There are many names for a medal bar, you may also hear it called a ribbon bar, name bar, Slider bar, SB1, chain of office bar or ceremonial medal bar for an officers jewel neck ribbon. Whatever you wish to call them they are a wonderful award to commemorate an individual and log a record of their names and years of service. Medal bars are the perfect choice for mayors and presidents, chains of office, masonic leaders or anyone of significant importance whose name needs to be remembered. In the past we have produced medal bars for mayors and celebrities such as Roy Hudd OBE to commemorate his death, and it was worn by Paul O’Grady MBE.

Our 40mm bar or pin backed medal bars come in either gold or silver, colours which connote luxury and high achievement; both qualities guaranteed to impress the recipient. The medal bars are solid brass with silver or gold coloured coating, which ensures quality and longevity. Further, gold and silver can be neutral colours when contrasted with a ribbon of most colours, as shown in the example image which uses a dark green ribbon.

Our medal bars are 40mm wide and 8.5mm deep (this is 4cm by 0.85cm or 1.57″ by 0.33″) which is the standard size that fits most ribbons (other sizes are available). However, to make them more attractive, there is a slight bevel around the edge so there will be slightly less room to engrave than in the quoted dimensions above. We also do flat name bats without the bevel.
